Think of this room as the visual vacation. It’s a travel diary filled with landscapes, food, still lifes, and candid moments from Marais’s life on the road. This is the personal, observational work that often serves as the creative laboratory for his bigger projects. It’s where his eye is most free.
Much of the themes that became his independent art publication, Heavy Feral, was born from the travels documented here. Think nudist beaches, the sun-drenched naturist lifestyle and exotic destinations aplenty. But then also the Alps and other winter destinations. Shot across four continents, these images are less about telling a specific story and more about capturing a mood. It’s the feeling of crisp linen, the pleasure of a good meal, the texture of sand between your toes.
